The origins of MARS can be traced back to Bob Cain's employment at Merrill Lynch, where he developed a database driven portfolio review system for a large investment group at the firm. Although the technologies have changed, along with his experience level and hair color, the basic premise remains the same ... optimize employee resources, share knowledge, and create a firm asset from your technology expenditures.

Now in its fourth generation, MARS has evolved into a system that could have never been imagined back in 2001. This evolution is a direct result of continuous input from our clients, and our willingness to provide value and make the application as relevant as possible.

The initial release of MARS was intended as a consolidated client reporting solution, and that is still one of its primary strengths. Over the years the reporting functionality has evolved significantly to include performance attribution, risk analysis, peer group analysis, and the ability for us to create incredibly customized investment reviews for our clients; all while sticking to the original reason for its being ... to increase productivity in the client review phase of your business.

Connecting to your Data Hub

Most of our clients have some type of portfolio accounting system, and the percentage using Advent Axys is about 80%. Axys does a lot of things very well, but they can't be everything to everyone, this is where we come in. We can take your Axys data, add some additional classifications, bulk it up with data from other sources, and produce premium content from all of the disconnected pieces. The result is an integrated data platform available to everyone at your firm.
